CAKE 2020 POSTPONED

We know that many of you are rightly concerned about how the COVID-19 pandemic could potentially affect Chicago Alternative Comics Expo (CAKE) and CAKE-related activities. We take the health of our community very seriously, and have been closely monitoring news about the societal impact of this situation. We've also been in touch with other comics and zine shows to hear how they are adapting to new information.

CAKE's organizers have voted to postpone CAKE 2020 until a proposed date of June 2021. Though the quality of predictive information about the pandemic spread is lower than we would like, we do not want to pressure our many out-of-town exhibitors and guests to make an unsafe decision.

Though we truly wish circumstances were different, CAKE does not want to risk the health of people within our community or those outside of it. Please know that postponing the show was a choice we made with careful consideration and unanimous agreement.

State and local guidance tells us that we should cancel any event of over fifty people through at least the end of April. In accordance, we are also postponing our 2020 CAKE Art Auction fundraiser until a time when it is safe to gather, later in 2020. We will work with 826CHI to schedule a new date for the event, and we appreciate your flexibility..

We hope you are staying healthy and safe.

Thank you,

Chicago Alternative Comics Expo
